Hello, my name is Gary He, and I'm the owner of Salt Lamps Paradise. Many people ask me how I got started selling Himalayan salt lamps. After all, it's not your typical home-décor product, and as a resident of New York City, I'm nowhere near the Himalayan Mountains. I'm happy to share my story.

Ever since I can remember I've suffered from allergies. My days used to begin with nonstop sneezing. And during high-pollen months, I was so congested, I felt like I was underwater.

A friend of mine had heard of Himalayan salt lamps and their benefits for people with asthma and allergies. He bought one for me as a gift. I didn't put much stock in its healing powers, but I thought the lamp was attractive and put it in my bedroom.

Much to my surprise, within days I noticed I was sneezing less and breathing better. I was sleeping better too, because I wasn't as congested. It wasn't a panacea, but it was definitely helping. I couldn't believe that a lamp could improve my health.

I started reading about Himalayan salt crystals and learned how they naturally remove moisture in the air. This then reduces airborne mold, fungi, bacteria viruses and many asthma and allergy triggers, all of which require humidity to remain alive. There's more to the science of how these lamps work, but the end result is they improve the indoor air quality.

Because I was so pleased with my Himalayan salt lamp, I told some of my friends and co-workers about it. Soon people were asking me where they could buy one.

I began researching the product and tracked down some sources. Eventually, I traveled to Pakistan to meet with the companies mining the Himalayan salt crystals and made arrangements to start importing the products. And the rest, as they say, is history.
